wacom_open() takes wacom->lock and calls usb_autopm_get_interface(),
which in turn calls wacom_resume() which tries to acquire the lock
again.

The fix is to call usb_autopm_get_interface() first, before we take
the lock.

Since we do not do usb_autopm_put_interface() until wacom_close()
is called runtime PM is effectively disabled for the driver, however
changing it now would risk regressions so the complete fix will

Input: use PIT_TICK_RATE in vt beep ioctl

The KIOCSOUND and KDMKTONE ioctls are based on the CLOCK_TICK_RATE,
which is architecture and sometimes configuration specific.

In practice, most user applications assume that it is actually defined
as the i8253 PIT base clock of 1193182 Hz, which is true on some
architectures but not on others.

This patch makes the vt code use the PIT frequency on all
architectures, which is much more well-defined.  It will change the
behavior of user applications sending the beep ioctl on all
architectures that define CLOCK_TICK_RATE different from
PIT_TICK_RATE.

The original breakage was introduced in commit bcc8ca099 "Adapt
drivers/char/vt_ioctl.c to non-x86".  Hopefully, reverting this change
will make the frequency correct in more cases than it will make it
incorrect.

This fixes a regression introduced in
3b57ca0f80c5c8994b5b1e3d3f904cfe727951f2.

The data[6] byte contains either 1 or -1 depending on the whether the
mouse wheel on older wacom tablets is moved down (1) or up (-1).  The
patch introduced in the above commit changed the cast from (signed char)
to (signed).  When cast as a signed integer and negated, the value of -1
(stored in the byte as 0xff) became -255 rather than 1.  This patch
reverts the cast to a (signed char) and also removes an unnecessary
(signed) cast, as all the values operated on are bitmasked.

Linus Torvalds [Sun, 15 Aug 2010 18:35:52 +0000]
mm: fix up some user-visible effects of the stack guard page

This commit makes the stack guard page somewhat less visible to user
space. It does this by:

 - not showing the guard page in /proc/<pid>/maps

It looks like lvm-tools will actually read /proc/self/maps to figure
out where all its mappings are, and effectively do a specialized
"mlockall()" in user space.  By not showing the guard page as part of
the mapping (by just adding PAGE_SIZE to the start for grows-up
pages), lvm-tools ends up not being aware of it.

 - by also teaching the _real_ mlock() functionality not to try to lock
   the guard page.

That would just expand the mapping down to create a new guard page,
so there really is no point in trying to lock it in place.

It would perhaps be nice to show the guard page specially in
/proc/<pid>/maps (or at least mark grow-down segments some way), but
let's not open ourselves up to more breakage by user space from programs
that depends on the exact deails of the 'maps' file.

Special thanks to Henrique de Moraes Holschuh for diving into lvm-tools

ALSA: sound/usb/format: silence uninitialized variable warnings

Gcc complains that ret might be used uninitialized:

sound/usb/format.c: In function ‘snd_usb_parse_audio_format’:
sound/usb/format.c:354: warning: ‘ret’ may be used uninitialized in this function
sound/usb/format.c:354: note: ‘ret’ was declared here
sound/usb/format.c:414: warning: ‘ret’ may be used uninitialized in this function
sound/usb/format.c:414: note: ‘ret’ was declared here

I suppose it could be uninitialized if there is ever a UAC_VERSION_3

The GPIO pins are sampled in round-robin fashion, meaning that a slow

10 years agomm: fix page table unmap for stack guard page properly
Linus Torvalds [Sat, 14 Aug 2010 18:44:56 +0000]
mm: fix page table unmap for stack guard page properly

We do in fact need to unmap the page table _before_ doing the whole
stack guard page logic, because if it is needed (mainly 32-bit x86 with
PAE and CONFIG_HIGHPTE, but other architectures may use it too) then it
will do a kmap_atomic/kunmap_atomic.

And those kmaps will create an atomic region that we cannot do
allocations in.  However, the whole stack expand code will need to do
anon_vma_prepare() and vma_lock_anon_vma() and they cannot do that in an
atomic region.

Now, a better model might actually be to do the anon_vma_prepare() when
_creating_ a VM_GROWSDOWN segment, and not have to worry about any of
this at page fault time.  But in the meantime, this is the
straightforward fix for the issue.

ARM: S3C64XX: Set wifi and iNAND as permanently connected SD devices on SmartQ boards

This patch changes the platform data definitions of the wifi and iNAND chip on
the SmartQ 5 and 7 to indicate that they don't have a CD line available and are
thus hard-wired to the SDHCI data lines.

ARM: S3C64XX: Move SmartQ LCD control platform definition to shared file

This shares the common LCD control platform definition used in the SmartQ 5 and
7. This also corrects it as a GPIO bitbanged SPI device instead of an I²C one,
which was wrong.
